NECESSARY BACKGROUND:

1. It is important that you get a copy of the King James Bible, in order to read the scriptures that I have referenced in this article.  I would be happy to explain why, if that is necessary, later.

2. The first book of the bible (Genesis) describes the creation of the earth.  The last book in the bible (Revelation) describes the revelation of Jesus Christ as he returns to the earth at his Second Coming, destroys the armies of the wicked at Armageddon, and sets up his own kingdom wherein dwelleth righteousness.

3. But the bible does not read chronologically from the first to the last.  Even in the two books that I mentioned, the stories loop back (or flash back) and add detail to what has already been told.  Think about the four gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke and John (the first four books of the New Testament).  Each of them tells about the life of Jesus and ends shortly after Jesus has been crucified, raised from the dead and ascended into heaven.  If you read them in order, you will read about the crucifixion of Jesus four times.  Did Jesus die four times?  No. So, you understand that each book is a separate account, an independent witness of the events that occurred, all strung together consecutively.

4. The book of Revelation is written in a similar manner.  It tells of seven Seals, seven Trumpets, seven Thunders, and seven Vials.

a. The Seven Seals tell the long story – that begins just after Jesus ascended back into heaven – and ends at the battle of Armageddon.

b. The Seven Trumpets tell a much shorter story – that begins about 100 years ago, during the First World War – and ends at the battle of Armageddon.

c. The Seven Thunders are not revealed to us.  John was told not to write what they meant.

d. The Seven Vials are the really short story – that begins around the battle of Armageddon – and also ends at the battle of Armageddon.

5. If you look at the 6th and 7th Seals, the 7th Trumpet, and the 7th Vial, all together, you will see that they are all speaking of the same event – and that event occurs at the Battle of Armageddon.  So, these stories overlap each other and add more detail to the picture, and they all end together at Armageddon.

6. Now, it is not only the book of Revelation that is written that way.  There are chapters and books of prophecy all throughout the bible that add more details to the same events that will occur in the last days.  For example:

a. Matthew chapter 24 is a famous prophetic chapter that begins with the disciples asking the very same question that you did, "Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?" (Matt 24:3).  Jesus spent the whole chapter, describing in order what would happen.  Jesus answered their question – precisely.

b. Joel chapter 2 speaks about "The Day of the Lord". (Joel 2:1)  This is the term that refers to the judgment that the Lord will execute upon the nations of the earth at the time of the battle of Armageddon.  You will find this exact term, "day of the LORD" twenty-three times in the bible – all referring to the same day – and they occur in thirteen books of the bible.

THE EUPHRATES RIVER WAR:

7. So, it is not possible to say that we are just in one chapter and at one verse, today, as if it were occurring chronologically.  We are actually in several books and chapters at the same time.  For example, we are about in:

a. Verses 4-14 of Matthew chapter 24, where the world is in upheaval, the love of many is waxing cold, people are betraying one another, and the Great Tribulation is almost ready to commence (verse 15)

b. Verses 13-21 of Revelation chapter 9, where a war (the sixth trumpet war) begins at the Euphrates River and is so destructive that it results in the death of one third part of men.  If this is a literal figure, it would mean that about two billion people will die - and that would have to be the result of a nuclear war.  The fact that President Ahmadinejad of Iran (and many Muslims with him) believe that the world must be plunged into chaos like this, before their Messiah returns to earth (the "Mahdi", the twelfth Imam), is an ominous fact.  They actually believe that they must stir up the Muslim people to create this chaos, to kill many people, and to bring this prophecy of theirs to pass.  They have just recently released a video called "The Coming is Near" to call upon millions of Muslims to rise up for their God, Allah, and to be martyrs for their faith.  That is difficult for us to comprehend in the West, but, I have been studying it a lot, and it is something that is truly believed by many, many Muslims around the world. The spirit of Islam, I believe, is the Pale horse of Revelation chapter 6 whose name is Death – and Hell follows him (Rev 6:8). This is the Fourth Seal.  Notice that the very next verse (Rev 6:9-11) describes the souls of Christian believers who were slain for their faith in the Lord.  These are joined by other Christians who are also BEHEADED during the Great Tribulation just ahead of us (does that sound familiar now with all of the news of Muslims beheading Christians around the world?) until they return in triumph with the Lord at the battle of Armageddon (Rev 20:4).

c. Daniel chapter 9, verse 27 speaks about a man we later discover is the Antichrist who confirms a covenant with many for 7 years and after 3 ½ years he breaks the covenant and causes the sacrifices in the temple (on the temple mount in Israel) to cease.  This breaking of the covenant occurs at the Abomination of Desolation that Jesus spoke about in Matt 24:15 that triggers the Great Tribulation.  This same event is described in II Thess 2:4 – the Antichrist sits in the temple opposing God and shewing himself that he is God. The same event is also described in Rev 11;1,2 where the temple is given over to the Gentiles to trample underfoot for 3 ½ years.  And the same event is described in Rev 12:9 where Satan is cast out of heaven and possesses the Antichrist (who is sitting in the temple, as god) – woe to the inhabiters of the earth, for the Devil hath come down with great wrath knowing that his time is short (Rev 12:12).   So, you see that the final 3 ½ years is described in many places (I have only listed a few) and is found throughout the bible.  We have to put the pieces together like a jigsaw puzzle, because God only reveals the truth to those who continue in his word (John 8:31-32) and who diligently seek him (Heb 11:6), and who ask to know – "For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." (Luke 11:10)

8. The bible says that the sixth trumpet war will begin at the Euphrates River where four angels have been bound (these are fallen angels – i.e. devils) and are prepared to slay one third part of man. (Rev 9:15).  We have multiplied thousands of troops along the Euphrates River today in battle in Iraq.  The Euphrates River is entirely a Muslim River – it starts in Turkey, goes through Syria, Iraq and Iran and empties into the Persian Gulf.  That is the biggest trouble spot in the world today, among several other big ones.  I believe that Iran will be successful in calling upon Muslims to rise up and to attack the world to overcome it for their Messiah.  Revelation 9:16 says that the number of people in this army will be 200 million.  The Muslim uprisings in the world are not reported by the mainstream media to the extent that they are really occurring.  Satan is the god of this world, and for some reason, his people – the majority of the unbelieving media – hate Christians and Jews so much that these uprising are characterized as being "resistance" movements against oppressors, "pro-democracy" movements against tyranny, and other similarly deceptive characterizations.  The "Arab Spring" occurring in North Africa (Egypt, Libya, and Tunisia, all around to Syria) is toppling governments and establishing the most vicious of Muslim governments – the "Muslim Brotherhood".  The fact is that the world is in great trouble.

9. BUT, for those of us who are Christians…… We win - even if we are beheaded for our testimony!

10. Watch for:

a. The temple to be approved for re-construction on the temple mount in Israel.  It will take them only about six months to build it now because they have all of the plans and they have constructed ALL of the furniture, implements and priestly robes that are needed to resume sacrificial worship.  (Those of us who are Christians know that animal sacrifices are no longer necessary.  Jesus was the Lamb of God which taketh away the sins of the world – one sacrifice, done for all.)  BUT, the Jews are in blindness until the time of the Gentiles is fulfilled (Rom 11:25), so they will resume the sacrifices until the Antichrist breaks the covenant and causes the sacrifices to cease.

b. If President Obama is the antichrist (and that is just a guess at this point – but there is a lot of evidence that makes him a great candidate), then watch for him to be given "power to continue" (Rev 13:5), because he wasn't eligible for office in the first place.  He is not a natural born citizen.  He is reportedly now guilty of fraud for producing a fraudulent birth certificate, and for using a false social security number(s), but the FBI is reluctant to pursue him because the whole government is so corrupt and involved in the cover-up; AND because they are afraid of Black-backlash in cities for indicting the first black president.  We live in VERY interesting times.

c. The sixth trumpet war to commence in the middle east (probably because of Iran launching first).

d. Damascus to be destroyed for ever (although this could happen at the seventh trumpet – Armageddon – and not necessarily at the sixth)

e. A peace treaty, or some form of Covenant (Which is probably a confirmation by the Arabs/Palestinians that Israel has the right to exist) – although this may already have occurred behind closed doors and we won't know that it happened until later. (So, the temple construction is the best cue.)

f. Continued advancement of global identification methods (probably RFID tags), as in the Real ID act of the U.S. that will eventually become the mark of the beast – a numbering system that excludes people from buying and selling unless they consent to the terms of use of the card (i.e. "worship the one-world government beast".) (Rev 13:16-18)

11. There is much more that could be said from several angles, but this will have to do for now, and it will give you lots to study for now anyway.  Hope that helps.

Rejoicing that our names are written in heaven, (Luke 10:20),

Mike.

The "Berean Research Institute" is a scripture-based, family-oriented area of cyber-space wherein men, women and children can research beliefs and doctrines that impact their assembly, ministry and/or personal lives.

We encourage all to fear God and to keep his commandments by searching the scriptures daily and by being doers of the word.

Many people today claim to be Christians, disciples of Jesus, but fail to continue in his word as commanded in John 8:31, and therefore are deceiving even themselves.  (James1:22)  The result of such deception will be exclusion from the Kingdom of God (Matt 7:21-23 and Matt 25:8-12).

Not everyone ... shall enter the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (Matt 7:21)

If you consider yourself to be a Pentecostal, Baptist, Catholic, JW, Adventist - even a life-long one - and are convinced that you are on your way to heaven, we encourage you to consider some of the biblical doctrines that we examine in these articles and videos - and be SURE that you are on your way to heaven.

That is our ultimate goal for you - that every one of you obtains eternal life!!
